Leaving Like Wheels    (Rob Glaser)

Wasted I stand in a pale green room that's shedding tears,

And painting nightmares on my soul.

Drink comfort in through a haze of smoky cynic jokes,

To keep my mind from blacking in.

Toss and turn till I feel a taste of dawn's cold rays

Telling me to come alive.

Can't it tell that I've reached the strain, and I won't be back

Just to see a waste of time?

And it's off through the paths of the looking glass,

Feeling our way through the sea.

One short step away is the iron day,

But it needn't touch you or me.

It needn't touch you or me.

So sleep tight, it is not really endless night,

I'm told there's beauty in black light

      When you look back.

So hold me close, we've a long long way till we'll be back

To the quiet of the land.

Sages of old never guessed the way their paths would lead.

Their foolish pride has dealt our hand.

So we're off through the paths of the looking glass,

  Seeking adventure and fame.

Balanced one step away from the iron day,

We'll love through it all just the same.

We'll love through it all just the same.

So sleep tight, it is not really endless night,

I'm told there's beauty in black light

      When you look back.

But don't you ever look back.
