Talk Between Acts

You'd find it surprising

If you could travel through time.

You don't remember most of the dumb things you've done,

And half your life has slipped from mind.

  But don't start wond'ring what's this gonna mean in a day,

  Will it change or will it maybe slip right away?

  There is no answer.

  Maybe life's a dream,

  And maybe you'll awake and scream,

  And maybe it's too murky to say.

I dreamt of an angel,

But I awoke all alone.

I kept believing someday I'd recover her,

And then she would become my own.

  That's some delusion, yet it came to be in its time.

  Sometimes there's no reason when you search for a rhyme,

  Just your believing.

  What's it gonna get you, it will just unsettle you

  If you try too hard to

    Be no more deceived

    By the things that you perceive.

    Don't fight confusion;

    Everything's uncertain till the final curtain,

    Then at last the truth is received.

The muse keeps on calling,

Though no one else seems to hear.

I do not question, I am just an instrument,

And someday it will all seem clear.

  That's some delusion!  Yet it may prove true in its time.

  Sometimes there's no reason when you search for a rhyme,

  Just your believing.

  What's it gonna get you, it will just unsettle you

  If you try too hard to

    Be no more deceived

    By the things that you perceive.

    Don't fight confusion;

    Everything's uncertain till the final curtain,

    Then at last the truth is received.
